Use the stateful on-device agent through Main and side threads

truffile convo opens the authenticated user’s Convo on the connected device. Convo is the only backend for this command. Chats from the retired Task_* backend are not migrated or listed after the one-way cutover.

Main and side threads

Main is thread 0. A bare launch does not select Main: it opens an unsent side-thread draft instead.

truffile convo

The first message creates that side thread. Use /new whenever you want another unsent side-thread draft. Main always requires an explicit opt-in:

truffile convo --main

Inside the REPL, /main selects Main and /threads lists and switches among user-visible threads. System and Bulletin threads, including thread -1, are not shown and cannot be selected.

Messages and replies remain in the selected thread, so follow-up messages use its durable history until you switch threads or start a new draft.

/tasks, /resume, and /switch temporarily open the same Convo thread picker as /threads; they do not access legacy Task chats. /delete task is also a compatibility entry, but it only performs the reversible local hide described below. It does not delete anything from the server.

Local hide and restore

/hide removes a side thread from this Truffile installation’s normal picker. The hidden-thread state is local, reversible, and scoped to the device and authenticated user. It never deletes a Convo thread from the server. Main and system threads cannot be hidden.

Use /restore to return a hidden thread to the normal list. In automation, --hide, --restore, and --include-hidden provide the same local behavior.

Installed apps and tool routing

Convo has no per-chat or per-thread app allowlist. Nothing is attached to a thread, and the CLI cannot force or restrict a request to one installed app. The agent may discover installed tools and decide to use them through its normal routing.

Interactive /apps, dynamic /<app> selection, and --app are unavailable. Use either discovery-only command instead:

To test an app deterministically before deployment, connect its local MCP server with truffile infer --mcp.
